Microsoft Office 2021 instaltion guide step by step

Get a valid product key or licenseMake sure you have a genuine Office 2021 product key (25-character code) or a Microsoft account linked to a purchased license. This is usually emailed to you or printed on a card if bought physically.

Sign in to your Microsoft accountGo to office.com/setup or account.microsoft.com/services and sign in with the Microsoft account you used to purchase Office (or create a new account if needed).

Redeem your product key (if applicable)If you have a 25-character key, enter it on the redemption page after signing in. This links the license to your Microsoft account permanently.

Download the installerFrom the Microsoft account ‘Services & subscriptions’ page, find Office 2021 and click ‘Install’. This downloads a small setup file (OfficeSetup.exe for Windows, or a .pkg for Mac).

Run the installerOpen the downloaded file and allow it to make changes when prompted (Windows UAC or Mac permissions). Setup will automatically download and install all Office apps in the background — this can take 10-20 minutes depending on internet speed.

Wait for installation to completeYou’ll see a ‘Office is installed now’ message with a confetti animation when done. Close the installer window.

Activate OfficeOpen any Office app like Word or Excel. If you signed in with the account linked to your license, it should activate automatically. If prompted, sign in again with the same Microsoft account to activate.

Verify installation and updateCheck File > Account in any Office app to confirm your product is activated and see the version info. Click ‘Update Options > Update Now’ to ensure you have the latest security patches.
